IamEmo and Whitesmiths merge to create iMMedian

— Australian based Global supplier of compelling content & applications for mobile communications.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — October 24, 2006 — IamEmo Pty Ltd and Whitesmiths Pty Ltd have merged to form iMMedian Pty Ltd — an Australian based global supplier of content and applications for mobile communications, the company announced today.

The merged entity will bring together a broad portfolio of innovative mobile content and technology solutions designed to help the world's telecommunications carriers drive increased mobile data revenue.

iMMedian will focus on expanding its existing business in international markets in particular the Americas, Europe and Asia. Between them, the two companies are currently doing business in 15 overseas markets, with some of the world's leading telecommunication carriers including Vodafone, Mobile One, Optimus, Optus and 3.

The new company brings together IamEmo, an innovator in mobile content development with Whitesmiths, a company with a 20 year successful record in developing mobile technology platforms and applications.

Kevin Brough who previously led IamEmo will become the company's CEO, and John O'Brien the founder of Whitesmiths will assume the roles of Executive Chairman and Chief Technical Officer. Both Brough and O'Brien are recognized as innovators in the mobile sector of the Australian and global telecommunications industry.

"The merger offers us the opportunity to consolidate the strong footholds both companies have made in international markets, as well as explore new opportunities in these markets that would not have been possible for either company before the merger. It also creates a powerful global distribution channel for our mobile content, applications and technology platforms," said iMMedian CEO, Kevin Brough.

"The mobile content industry is experiencing rapid growth both here in Australia and in international markets. One of the key opportunities for growth is multimedia messaging services (MMS) whereby images, sound and video can be delivered in a message. iMMedian is well placed to leverage this opportunity through its flagship IamEmo and iVMS offerings," he said.

"IamEmo provides users with the opportunity to put an emotional context into their message. Emo is a fun, yet moody, animated chameleon uniquely designed to help users convey their emotions, both in MMS and Instant Messaging (IM).

"iVMS is an instant voice messaging service that delivers voice messages directly to mobile handsets via MMS. It allows consumers to receive their voice messages without the hassle of dialing their voicemail service to retrieve them.

"The opportunities for growth are strong both in the local and global markets. However, the size of opportunity is greatest in offshore markets with one large global opportunity providing us with as many mobile users as there are in all of Australia. We are one of a growing number of Australian companies successfully exploiting these global markets and developing very strong export revenues. The merger increases our chances of capitalizing on our early success in these markets.

"We are hearing a great deal about 3G and other high speed mobile networks being deployed throughout the world, so the timing's good. Global players are hungry for compelling mobile content that engages consumers and drives revenue. Speed alone does not warrant the high speed networks — we don't need faster voice communications. We need applications that consumers are willing to use and pay for."

"The financial upside of even incremental growth in mobile content revenue is compelling. In the US alone almost 220 million handsets are in use. Increasing consumer spend on mobile content by just a few dollars a month would result in billions of dollars of additional revenue. We believe our products and services are well placed to take advantage of this opportunity.

"We are coming from a strong base in creating global distribution channels. For example Emo has been preloaded onto over 10 million handsets globally, and we have a global license agreement with American Greetings to use IamEmo for instant messaging," said Mr Brough.

Whitesmiths Announces First Commercial Trials of Direct to MMS Voice Messaging Service

Sydney — 9 February 2006 — Whitesmiths Pty Ltd today announced it is commencing the world's first trials of its Instant Voice Messaging Service (iVMS). The trials will enable mobile telephone (cell phone) customers to receive voice messages directly in their handset Inbox and access them with a single click.

"iVMS is a new, simple and intuitive voicemail experience that will increase data traffic and call completion. iVMS will attract new users and expand revenue opportunities for the mobile operators" said Mr. John O'Brien, Chairman and CEO of Whitesmiths, the Sydney-based company that has developed the technology.

"These trials are a significant milestone in the commercial launch of this easy to use and attractive service." "The immediate delivery of voicemail messages and exciting user experience is proving attractive to the 15-29 year-olds who are a crucial target market." "We have also found that business customers like the better voicemail experience — not having to dial back in to retrieve their messages; the message is there on the handset, just like an SMS message."

iVMS works by calls for subscribers being forwarded to the iVMS platform, which operates alongside the standard voicemail platform. The voice message of the caller is taken and incorporated into MMS format with an avatar. The MMS is sent to the recipient using the Mobile Operator's existing MMSC.

"These trials are being conducted in Australia and S.E. Asia, and extensive testing with common handsets in the marketplace has shown that the delivery of voicemail via MMS is now not only practical but a superior user experience," said Mr. Peter Marks, Head of Research and Development for Whitesmiths.

Whitesmiths is a leading provider of innovative products and services to the Mobile Telecommunications industry. Whitesmiths was founded in 1986 and is headquartered in Sydney, Australia.

Dexterra Concert 4.0 launched

Dexterra, Inc., Whitesmiths' mobile business software partner, announced the latest version of their flagship product, Dexterra Concert 4.0, the first complete SOA-based distributed computing platform that provides an enterprise with everything they need to effectively mobilise their distributed workforce quickly, efficiently and economically.
With Dexterra Concert 4.0, any business can develop mobile applications, connect them to their existing back office systems and deploy to devices in the field in record time. An extensive library of out-of-the-box industry-specific Dexterra TransAppsTM is available, targeting precise business needs and speeding the process of developing and delivering mobile business solutions.

Delivering on the promise of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Dexterra Concert 4.0 allows rapid response and adaptation to business change without the high cost normally associated with such challenges.

Dexterra Concert 4.0 captures the true essence of adaptive mobility with two dynamic development and management tools, Dexterra Composer and Dexterra Orchestrator.
Dexterra Composer is the latest revolution in Dexterra application development tools extending such popular integrated development environments as Microsoft Visual Studio and Eclipse. With Dexterra Composer, developers can assemble applications in hours rather than days, utilising an extensive suite of pre-existing TransApps, modules, components and controls optimised for specific devices and form-factors.
Dexterra Orchestrator provides integrators with the ability to access, map and manage a family of vendor-certified Dexterra Adapters; easy to use out-of-the-box integration components for use with a number of enterprise systems, middleware and databases including SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, and Remedy. Dexterra Orchestrator, combined with any Dexterra Adapter, allows the fast and easy auto-discovery and mapping of changes in these backend systems to applications developed in Dexterra Composer. Together they form the most responsive, secure and complete method of developing and managing a wireless business solution available on the market.

"Working closely with our customers and partners, the Dexterra product team has truly delivered a new paradigm in mobile business solution delivery," says Rob Loughan, CEO of Dexterra, "one that allows them to develop and reuse applications and components in a faster, more predictable manner. With the unprecedented power in Dexterra Concert to assemble an application rather than to write code, coupled with the ability to easily adapt rather than to integrate to a host of popular ERP and CRM systems, Dexterra continues to raise the bar by taking the high cost and risk out of deploying wireless business solutions."

Telcorum Handles High Peak Load Effortlessly

The Telcorum architecture has been used in the field to handle self-serve activations in a successful mobile promotion conducted in Australia.

On the busiest day, Telcorum had over 3,000 concurrent users and handled millions of hits while barely moving from idle state.

Telcorum has a scaleable deployment architecture which includes true load balancing and failover making it suitable not only for internal use but also for the demands of "big bang" marketing driven self serve applications.

Telcorum Self Serve Implementation Pays For Itself In Just 4 Months

A major international telco has reported that an implementation of Telcorum Self Serve which went live in January has now paid for itself in just four months of operation through savings in the activation call centre.

There was no advertising spend to direct customers to use self serve for activation, just the URL on the SIM pack, and yet due to the quality of the user experience and the customer desire for self service, Telcorum Self Serve has emerged as one of the most popular ways customers activate their SIMs.

'Hidden' Computers Set To Overtake The PC Market

The global market for personal computers will soon be overtaken by sales of 'hidden' computers in items such as domestic appliances and cars, according to an Australian expert in embedded computer systems.

John O'Brien, the managing director of software development firm Whitesmiths, which has been developing embedded systems since 1986, said sales of embedded computer systems are growing at an unprecedented rate.

"Global sales of embedded systems are forecast to reach US$119b this year and are rapidly gaining ground on the personal computer market, which reached US$178b in 2003.

"We are seeing an explosion in computer systems for use in products such as mobile phones, washing machines, cameras, motor vehicles and industrial devices," Mr O'Brien said.

"It is a very big market - potentially much bigger than the market for personal computers - and is expected to overtake the PC market by the end of the decade."

Programming language experts from around the world are gathering in Sydney this weekend to attend the Whitesmiths hosted meeting of the International Standards Organisation Standards Committee for the computer languages C & C++ which are used in most embedded systems.

John O'Brien, the head of the hosting organisation, Whitesmiths, said the growth in embedded systems could result in major changes in the computer industry. "Embedded systems have been thought of as the unfashionable end of computing," he said. "But they are about to join the mainstream".

"Embedded systems are currently disconnected from other systems and are focused on reliability and ease of use. Desktop computers, on the other hand, have undergone a revolution through connectivity via the Internet.

"Get embedded systems networked and you will see the next revolution in computing that will make it as pervasive as electricity or the water supply. The growth in Linux brand embedded systems is fuelling this revolution.

John O'Brien said this would enable embedded computers to be linked to sensors, creating vast networks using IPV6 that would keep an eye on virtually everything.

"Technology for the home will become a huge growth market. The range of tasks these systems could perform is endless - from virtually running your house to monitoring the condition of elderly people and setting off an alarm if they fall ill."

"It means you could have your oven connected to your dishwasher to advise what sort of food was cooked at what temperature, allowing the dishwasher to set itself to the right wash cycle."

John O'Brien said it was very difficult to estimate the full commercial implications of this integration. "It is a bit like trying to estimate the revenue potential of the telecommunications industry on the basis of what you knew about the postal system," he said.

"We are at a point where we can see a future in which IT becomes universal. It will be everywhere but it will also become invisible because it is an integral part of everyday life."
