About Whitesmiths

Whitesmiths was founded in 1986 by Managing Director, John O'Brien, and at that time was a specialist software development company of real-time production controllers, medical and avionics systems and military manufacture processors.

In June 1991, Whitesmiths was selected as a preferred IT sub-contractor to SingTel Optus and has enjoyed a long trading relationship with them and other mobile services providers since that date. Whitesmiths has a software engineering team providing products that support mobile telephony customer acquisition, value added voicemail and multi-media services.

Whitesmiths is a leading provider of customer management solutions with expertise in telecommunications and the integration of telephony network components and legacy systems. Whitesmiths also has a business unit specialising in the configuration and deployment of TRIRIGA integrated workforce management systems. We have provided highly integrated and scalable end-to-end solutions to clients in Asia, Australia and Europe since 1992.

Whitesmiths’ Services team provides specialist consulting and deployment resources in support of our own and third party products.More recently, Whitesmiths formed a Services team of fully trained and certified deployment specialists for the TRIRIGA Integrated Workplace Management System.

Meet the Team

John O'Brien

John O'Brien is Managing Director of Whitesmiths Group. He founded the company in 1986 and has guided Whitesmiths from its initial specialisation in developing and marketing integrated embedded system software development tools in the 1980s to establishing a software services division in 1989. John initiated Whitesmiths' involvement in the telecommunications industry in 1991 through the start-up of Optus. Today, Whitesmiths focuses on mission critical applications for the telecommunications industry and has implemented key solutions with telecoms carriers in Australia, Asia and Europe.

John was a founding member and President of the Australian Apple Programmers and Developers Association. He is President of the Penrith Rugby Union Club, a life member, and their longest active player. He has also held many senior administration positions in the Sydney Rugby Union, New South Wales Rugby Union and the Australian Rugby Union.

Carol Stammeijer

Carol is responsible for Sales and is the Commercial Director. She has held senior management positions with a number of major telecommunications companies. Prior to joining Whitesmiths she was Regional Sales Director for Openwave Systems Inc. with responsibility for growing the company's business in Australasia. She also worked for Hewlett-Packard, Singapore for 3 years, as a Regional Management Consultant in Customer Relationship Management.

Carol was part of the Cable & Wireless plc team that managed the start-up and launch of Optus in 1991. Carol was responsible for Optus Mobile customer service policy, standards and the management of the associated business systems solutions. This was later expanded to cover Sales and Marketing solutions for both mobile and wireline businesses. Prior to joining Cable & Wireless, Carol worked for Nokia OY and Hutchison Telecommunications in the UK. Carol has a BA Honours in English and Economics from Sussex University.
